Query on Thomas WICKHAM

This tree has Richard born 1663 as the son of Thomas WICKHAM 1624-1688 and Sarah GOODRICH 1630-1699 which makes more mathematical sense

It has no sources attached

Hi Jude,

Unfortunately a lot of internet family trees contain little to no sources of where they found the information.

And unfortunately once an incorrect connection gets added to an internet trees a lot of people copy it to their tree - Richard above is an example of this - it is not physically possible for a child to be born in 1663 to a mother born in 1598.

What we need are primary sources connecting these families together - ie birth records, census records, wills, land grants, marriage records, newspaper articles, death records, gravestones

1. Thomas Wickham b. 1600 d. age 24 (Joane may have married a Wickham)
2. Jane Chatfield b. 1619
3. Miriam Chatfield b. - she is listed twice, may be the same person
4. Francis Chatfield b.
5. George Chatfield b.
6 Margaret (Chatfield) Norris

There are a few questions that this raises
1) Joanne married John WICKHAM at age 19 in 1575 - so she was born c1556 - this means that she had son George born 1564 when she was 8 so this is obviously incorrect
2) John Wickham and Joanne had 2 children called George - one in 1564 and the other in 1577 - it is very unlikely that they would have 2 living children with the same name - so the first George must have died as a child prior to 1577 and therefore would not have lived to marry and have children
3) Joanne Hobson died at age 37 which would be 1593 - so she could not be the same person who had children in 1600 and 1619.

From that I would be very concerned with the accuracy of that particular internet tree - and I would critically look at the sources it has
