Charity is NOT the mother of Stephen Waterman Doughty - it is Lucretia Brown. Charity was the wife of Stephen Bennet Doughty. Here is a quote from Donna Damon, from the Historical Society on Chebeague island, and a direct Doughty descendant from the island where the Doughty's lived:
"There are several very inaccurate genealogies out there re: the Chebeague Doughty's. Because there were several Stephen Doughtys, folks got things all mixed up and commingled some of Job Doughty's children with his brother Stephen Bennett Doughty's (who was married to Charity Staples.)"
