Profiles Mentioned:

David Banvard was married to the widow Carlin (Catherine Elizabeth Lovy, widow of Jean Carlin) on 20 May 1753 I believe at St Pauls, Halifax Nova Scotia, but worshipped thereafter, being original settlers of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, at St Johns Anglican church, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. I, a direct descendant of David Banvard, was married intentionally on 234rd anniversary of the double wedding of David and his sister Marie Banvard to Jean Dauphinee, at St Johns Anglican church. David was born in France (in Brognard by my memory in the parish of St Suzanne), did the trans-Atlantic voyage on the Speedwell, where his first wife is believed to have parished. How he transported his wife and several daughters to pre-revolutionary New York City is unknown to me, but he finally had a son born in New York City: Daniel being the first male Banvard born in North America.
