I made a merge which is of same person but it brought in different parents and I am looking for any sources to confirm:

This is from a DNA match I am pursuing the connection to discover how we are related. I see SU Song in her tree but am NOT looking for Harrelson and a surprised to se it so I am not at all aware of how to proceed other than to enlist eyes on/help :)

My DNA match has a Gedcom which shows Timothy Harrelson as son of Hugh b ~1780 and died before 1850 & Mary Catherine unknown, b ~1783 and died Mar 1850.
Then parents of Hugh as:
BENJAMIN HARRELSON, b. ABT 1750, , Craven, South Carolina, USA, d. ABT 1840, , Marion, South Carolina, USA & CELIA SMITH, b. ABT 1750, , , South Carolina, USA

Benjamin seen as son of JOSEPH HARRELSON, b. ABT 1725 and SU SONG UNKNOWN, b. ABT 1725

Post merge:
Son of Benjamin Harrelson, II; Henry Hugh Harrelson; Unknown First Harrelson (Wife) and Mary Catherine Harrelson ({unknown})

I am disconnecting from Benjamin Harrelson, II and NN Harrelson, first wife (mother of Timothy) but am agreeable to other options/further discussion.

Thank you

My DNA match is a paternal match. I believe someone is still missing or not connected.

Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087, be careful. There are many Benjamin Harrelsons in both the Marion County and Horry County lines. Geography helps, but is not always correct as they were all related.

We just went through a discussion where Benjamin I and his brother Joseph had daughters named Abigail, Patience, and etc. along with sons of the same. I have studied them extensively and still have to do a graph when I dig into them.

Hugh Henry Harrelson is not the son of Benjamin Harrelson I and wife Celia Smith. Not named in Benjamin's will if that helps. I will look as see what I can find, but I had to take a break from them after last two weeks. It was exhausting and exciting at the same time.

As suspected. DAR application - Timothy Harrelson, married to Lourany Goodyear, son of Benjamin Harrelson II and XX and grandson of Patriot Benjamin Harrelson I and 1st wife.

Want me to fix it?

Done and DAR source noted. Actually, Benjamin Harrelson II had the unknown 1st wife. Benjamin Harrelson I was married to Ruth XX.

There are a lot of really messed up trees out there on the Harrelson family and there are reasons. I just found one for Timothy on Family Search and frankly, I would try to fix it, but it is so bad, not sure I can. Lots of profiles with no sources.

Thank you, Susanne. I had Goodyear and merged her with Gale. I am offline right now but do we need to ask for an unmerge?

I don't think so. I believe that I fixed the problem with Timothy. He has some unattributed aunts and uncles though that I don't know what to do with. I launched a discussion on those under Benjamin Harrelson I's profile.

No. I think we are good with Tim.

Bang head here: O

I will try to see what I can find on this, Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087. I worked on Henry a long time ago. There are several "Hugh Harrelson"s and they get mixed up. I appear doubly kin to him.

At least I know why I keep ending up back here. DNA withadirty tree

As for Henry Hugh - my opening note on his profile still stands,

"Nothing in Benjamin Harrelson's will to connect Henry Hugh Harrelson as his son. SFG"

but I did not disconnect him as I am not sure where he needs to go. He belongs with the family, but where? Still searching.

A locked relationship with NO PARENTS may help for now

Or add Not Hugh as father.
I don’t work on Harrellson on purpose. I end up there

Yeah, I will talk to a curator.

Ok, I always hate to connect one until I know something.

Josiah Lairl Harrelson, Sr. and his wife Mary Ann Harrelson had a son named Hugh named in Josiah's will - about this same age. I wonder if this is Henry Hugh Harrelson. The Harrelsons were famous for moving back and forth across three adjoining counties and two states (SC and NC). I have never seen a source for the A as a middle name for the son Hugh A. Harrelson. Going to see if I can find some more info on him. Not mcuh but some useless gedcoms on his profile.

Why does the About say:

DAR proven mother for Timothy David Harrelson. All other children need additional research and verification of this wife as mother. SFG

Timothy David Harrelson is Cynthia's fifth great uncle's second cousin once removed

I am working on some of Timothy David Harrelson's children and grandchildren today.

With regards to this "Why does the About say:

DAR proven mother for Timothy David Harrelson. All other children need additional research and verification of this wife as mother. SFG"

It is not known for sure if Benjamin Harrelson II had more than one wife, but what is known for sure is that the only one that is proven by the DAR is the unknown mother of Timothy. There are three applications on file for him and each time, his mother is "unknown." No other descencents of Benjamin II have filed applications. The other son of Benjamin I - Lewis Harrelson has one application on file for a descendant of him.

Regarding:
"what is known for sure is that the only one that is proven by the DAR is the unknown mother of Timothy"
and
"There are three applications on file for him and each time, his mother is "unknown." "
can you give those links or add a paragraph expanding on that? Since I am not a DAR member, I can only see what is on Benjamin I's profile with regards to his wife and children...
Since Timothy is said to be a grandson, he is not on that DAR record I have access to

Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087, I am not a member either. It is in the public section of the site. We are not supposted to put links on but we can quote or note items from the site that we find or luok up. I will send you the info on how to look them up. :-)

I can make paragraphs with the information. I think that is on there, though. I guess I am not really sure what you are missing, but will do my best.
