My mother, Dorothy Goldenberg (nee Rash, originally Rashkovan), born in Rezina in 1903, came to Canada at age 8, with her younger sister Sylvia and younger brother William (Vigder) and her mother Sadie Rash (nee Goldenberg). Her father Morris Rash, was already in Canada. Her sister Sylvia later married Sol Starr (originally Starominsky), also from Rezina. My father Harry Goldenberg, born in Rezina in 1902, emigrated to Canada in 1923, sponsored by his uncle Morris Rash. He later married his first cousin Dorothy. My father’s sister Liba (married name Gupspoon), the only survivor of his large family, emigrated to Canada in the 1920s.. She was pregnant and bore a son here, but her husband was unable to emigrate. All of the remaining members of my father’s family perished during the Nazi invasion of Bessarabia in 1941, The only survivor was a sister-in-law Taybl (born in Poland), wife of my father’s younger brother Moshe.
Dear Robert,
Thanks for your detailed information.
I did some research and I find at GewishGen in the "Revision Lists" a big family Rashkovan from Rezina, but I didn't find connection to your tree, maybe you can provide Hebrew names. Anyway I can share these lists and we can discuss further.
Goldenberg : The family members that died in the Holocaust - I uploaded some records filled by Harry and updated the birth dates, you can see it at the tree.
Some records for family members that not appear in the tree but maybe I didn't see and you can help :
Rukhl Kigel nee Goldenberg was born in Rezina, Romania in 1924 to Meyer and Basia.
Golda Salnic Tzelnik nee Goldenberg was born in 1880 to Shlomo and Batia.
Goldenberg, First name unknown was born in Rezina, Romania in 1940 to Aron and Rika.
Liza Goldenberg was born in 1906 to Davyd. Prior to WWII she lived in Rezina
Regards
Yan
None of the names you mention are familiar. Probably a different family. My maternal grandfather Morris Rash’s Hebrew Name was Moshe ben Tuvia. His sister Bertha Grace (nee Rash) , my great-aunt, also lived in Toronto. I don’t know any details about her early life. She did not have children. I have lots of other information about my father Harry Goldenberg (Herschel on his passport, Tsvi Hirsh ben Shmaryohu, but it is probably all on the Geni family tree.
Hi Robert,
I find only one Tovya Rashkovan son of Avraham , birth date 1847.
He was born in Orgeev Bessarabia but there also a record of Duma voters and he appear in Rezina. So he might be good candidate for Moshe father.
Sadie Rash, I find immigration records for 1911 as you said but also for 1915.
Did she travel twice ?
Wishing you and your family Shana Tova
