I have several sources, that say Kirschner or Kirshner was the spelling in Germany. Once they began immigrating to Maryland they changed their spelling to Kershner. Several different captains of vessels have sourced this.

If they were born in Germany the spelling is Kirschner, in America Kershner. In England you gotta research it. Those Captains logs and other facts are there, i know i seen them. Also have the writings of books of family genealogy passed down from elders.
