Many sites list her daughter Sarah as Sarah Regan 'Sallie' (Parker) Singletary. I've seen the mother, this Saran Ann Parker-Singletary listed with the maiden name Regan, which is probably why that's her daughter's middle name.

So I'm wondering if Ralph Regan was paying the tithes on Edward Harrison's child because she was actually Ralph Regan's daughter (or some relationship) and that's where the Regan name comes into play for both mother and daughter.

I read the notes about this Sarah's mother being adopted but I'm wondering if this Sarah herself might have been adopted.

This old brain is getting where some of these things are just too much for me to sort out any more. I haven't personally done any research on the Singletary line itself since it's an inlaw line to me, but anyway, I'm related to these folks on the Hester lines and I know the Singletary line got at least part of any Native they have from the Hester line that goes back to Robert 'Cherokee' Thomas, father of Sarah (Thomas) Hester who is the ancestor of many of the Hester / Singletary descendants

But back to this Sarah, I haven't seen anything indicating who her parents might have been, but there has to be a Regan connection there somewhere for the name to have been continued down to Sarah's daughter. I'm 'thinking' perhaps Ralph Regan was this Sarah Ann's biological father, not Edward Harrison, and who knows what his ancestry was. And she could have gotten Native from her mother, as indicated in the notes.

Earlier today I attached a document to the Media tab on the profile for Sarah where she is, as she often is, referred to with the middle name Regan:

https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000178767127915

and it's from seeing her repeatedly referred to that way and then what was shared about Ralph Regan paying tithes on this Sarah Ann made me think there must be a family connection to the Regans. Why else would she call her daughter Sarah Regan Parker?

What do you think? Am I just totally confused? lol

When I had posted in 2021, I didn't know what the Regan connection was, but now I have that info. No one responded to my previous post, so I hope this time someone will help sort these connections out.

It seems these two women's info has gotten mixed:

In fact, his Find-a-Grave page lists both as his wives:

Lists Sarah Harrison as his 1st wife and Sarah Regan as his 2nd wife:

Josiah Singletary served in the American Revolution (Pen.# SW6064) as a private in the militia under Capt. Charles Bullock and Col. Thomas Brown.

He married Sarah Ann Harrison (22 Mar 1759- 9Nov. 1830). Some of their children were:
Willis Singletary who married Mary Wood.
David Singletary who married Sarah Simpson. They moved to Thomas Co., GA.
Amelia Singletary who married Joseph Wood

After Sarah Ann Harrison Singletary died, Josiah married Sarah Regan Parker, widow of Francis Parker(1765-1830). They were married in 1833. Sarah lived in Bladen Co with Josiah but at his death in 1844, she moved back to Robeson Co., and is buried there with her Regan family in Wildcat Swamp.

None of the pages show any mother for Sarah Regan Parker ( 1812 - 1849 Rankin Co. MS. ) m. John Hester Singletary (1805 Bladen-1885 Alto, Texas). other than Sarah Regan Parker, which would explain why her middle name is Regan, it being her mother's maiden name.

I Googled trying to find any other sources than Find-a-Grave for any info on the connections for Sarah (Parker) SIngletary but couldn't find anything else. In any case, it's easy to see how Josiah SIngletary's two wives could become confused since both were named Sarah. But only one of them was also married to Francis Parker and that was Sarah Regan, not Sarah Harrison...at least based on what is on Find-a-Grave which went into great detail about the children of Francis Parker and Sarah Regan.

More importantly, it goes on to state of Sarah Regan: On 4 July 1833, she married Josiah Singletary of Bladen Co., NC. They lived there until he died in 1843, and she returned to Robeson Co., NC. This was a second marriage for both . They had no children.

So, all of Josiah Singletary's children would have been from his marriage to Sarah Harrison.

According to FInd-a-Grave, Francis Parker wasn't a husband of Sarah Harrison and all his children were with Sarah Regan, who appears to have been his only wife:

Rev. Francis Parker(1765 Sampson Co.-1830 Robeson Co.). married Sarah Regan on 5 Jan 1797(Robeson Co., NC Marriage Bond) . They had 6 children:
1.Mary Ann Parker(1798 - c. 1817 ) m. 1st cousin Ralph Regan, Sr. s/o Joseph & 1st wife Doretha Regan.
2.Martha Parker ( 1799 - c. 1870 ) m. William Byrd(c.1785-1840)Robeson Co., NC
3. Ralph Regan Parker ( 1802-1861 Houston Co., Texas ) m. Catherine Shaw; Sarah C. Hodges
4. Emelia Parker ( 1804 - 1862) m. Henry Hilburn
5. Harriet Parker ( 1809 - 1883 Montgomery, Ala. ) m. Owen Singletary son of Ithamar & Ann Bryan Singletary.
6. Sarah Regan Parker ( 1812 - 1879 Rankin Co., MS. ) m. John H. Singletary(1805 Bladen-1885 Texas).
Robeson Co., N. C. Marriage Bonds for some of the above are on file.

So in summary, all of Josiah SIngletary's childen are shown to be from his marriage to Sarah Harrison and all of Francis Parker's chldren are shown to be from his marriage to Sarah Regan. Josiah is the only one who was married to both Sarahs.
