Greetings!
My name is Dr. Harold C. Cohen and I am a great-grandson of Max Silverstein. My grandfalther was the late Samuel Silverstein and my mother was the late Ann Silverstein Cohen.
We know that Max died in 1922. The family lore that was told is that Max and a brother were involved in a pedestrian accident in Philadelhia, PA in 1922, and both were killed instantly. Other than these facts, little was ever mentioned about Max and nothing about a brother. This long-time family story is starting to fall apart.
It appears that Max was injured in a horse/buggy vs. pedestrian accident but did not immediately die. He had a younger brother Joe, who lived until 1976. He also had a sister who none of us new about until two days ago.
We are curious about what really happened. As young children we can buy into most any story told by grandparents. Now, it appears that there is more to the story. Max's wife lived until 1960, never remarrying. Both Max and Pessie (sometimes identified as Bessie) were likely buried in Philadelphia but we cannot find which cemetary.
We would appreciate any enlightenment.
Harold
