Can someone add my profiles here and then I will delete my project?
TIA

Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087 I set you an invite to the "Brick-Wall Workshop".

Linda Kathleen Thompson, (c) thank you so so much

A month or so ago, Wikitree had a Brick Wall marathon.
I find maneuvering the site very difficult so I don't work there much but I was really happy to see people getting help and even a pro genealogist had her brick wall knocked down. Amazing what collaboration can do! But also, I think maybe sometimes we are "too close" to our own to be able to work on the difficult ones. I have so many and just this week I requested a quote to find the father of my great grandfather George W Pratt
I created my Brick Wall Project for him and he is the first one I added after receiving your invite.
I will delete my project.
Thank you again.

I have a few brick walls, too. I should add them there if I haven't already done so.

I have solved a few after trying again every now and then. Those are the sections of the tree I'm most proud of. They gave me a true feeling of accomplishment. Never give up even though they try to pull you down.

DNA has made the world of difference AND Geni with the collaborative aspect.
I love knowing that I can help someone and just hope that time will reveal more of what is hidden. Lost records are the WORST in my opinion. And now I might even add that broken links and pay walls contribute but not as much.
I still believe our BRICK WALL is someone's ALWAYS KNEW.

Sometimes it's records that haven't yet been put online. Sometime someone has a bible with the needed info. I ended up with the key to a puzzle contained in a book we ended inheriting from my father-in-law. He wrote down the first and middle name of his grandfather. Such a small, but important thing. Others had hit a brick wall at that point.

You should make George W Pratt Public

Alex Moes, thank you. Done. I don’t remember when or why I made him private? Maybe after someone messed up several of my close ancestors and relatives and I got a little conservative and protective of them.
His father is my curious ancestor I cannot find in even one record. A pro genealogist at Ancestry said they may not be indexed yet. My concern is did he change his name? Was he an orphan or a foundling? DNA says George Pratt the father of this George was of African descent but everyone I DNA match as cousins through him has no info in their tree so anything I find on him will be news basically.

His father, my second great grandfather, my closest (most recent ancestor) brick wall:
George W Pratt
I do not recall where I got dates for him and thinking if I cannot locate in my paper files then I should remove the dates, etc.
I have found pretty much everything for his widow and for his son.

Cynthia, the difficultly as I see it is that even if you find records for 1850 George you can never be certain it is your 1850 George. What you actually need are more records of 1875 George that somehow give you more info about his father (hard to imagine what they might be even).

Oh Alex Moes! There are a TON of George Pratts! Makes me glad I have two middle names and two married names and yet people still get ME wrong when they add me to their tree.
I have tried looking for Nancy with her family and searching by hand in those census and records… just a simple name search will not work for this name, you are correct

I have tried to imagine myself in Nancy Jane Pratt Huddleston ‘s shoes and fathom when and where she would have met George!
She is in one census with her parents and the next with George Jr’s step father and has his Huddleston name. By next census, his Pratt name has been restored

I think the only record I cannot find yet for George 1875 is the first marriage Laura A Pratt Laura Bales

I added notes to my Ancestry profile for him (1875) that he was a bigamist in Arkansas but I do not recall any specifics…. This information came from family that has since passed away…
