Could this Gunes be the same as Kuin at this link:
https://ancientturks.org/history-of-the-turks-moguls-and-tatars-vul...
The site lists 6 sons for Oghuz and there's not a Gunes among them, but I realize there are variations on a lot of names from back then.
The sons listed are:
Ogus Chan left six sons: 1.Kiun Chan; 2.Ay Chan, 3.Julduss Chan; 4.Kuk Chan; 5.Tag Chan; 6.Zingis Chan; each of these six brothers had four sons in lawful wedlock.
And only 'Kuin' has any similarity at all to 'Gunes'.
If you can confirm they're the same person or have other documentation for the name Gunes, that would be great. I've validated the line down to this profile and ran into the problem with being unable to document the name Gunes.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
You're correct, they are the same person. Güneş is typically just called Gün, meaning "day" in Turkish. Kiun is an etymological variant of it. Güneş is a name I found him listed under a long time ago, and used it because it seemed more complete. It means "sun" in Turkish, which is about the same. However, since he is most commonly known as Gün, I should probably change the profile name accordingly.
