@Carl Jen “Charles” Kranz

If it were not for Carl Jen Kranz and known in the US as Charles I would not be here. He history is very illusive and I need all the help I can get.

Records on FamilySearch.org indicate he was born February 14, 1845 in Felsberg, Germany/Prussia, came to the US in 1868 and in 1872 married Augusta Beate Georgina Harloff. They resided in Kankakee, Illinois and was a successful Cigarette maker. Had at least seven children. On January 18,1915 he passed away.

I can find nothing on his history prior to coming to the US! No family….nothing. There is ironically another Charles Kranz that married Augusta Krengel but they are not related according to contacts, thus a BrickWall with MY Carl Jen “Charles” Kranz.

Any information anyone can provide is greatly appreciated in advance!

Here is to Happy Connections,

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any source for Carl Kranz in Germany.

Either I couldn't find any public source for other families in Felsberg.

Thank you for looking.

Since I am not a German expert, I was wondering is Carl Jen short for something more complex.

How about the spelling of Kranz could that be short for something else.

Since he came to the US by himself all his information could be shortened for US officials?

Thanks all for trying to find my great grandfather. I asked on WikiTree also and they went to church records and found his family back to 1648 but stopped there as Germany//Prussia was in much upheaval so records have been lost further back at this moment.

Carl Jean Ferdinand Kranz is his birth name and his family history at this moment is all on Family Search.org. The family family changes going back ….Kranz…Krantz….Crantz…

I will transfer to here when time permits.
