@Cornelius P. Bodine, I just read this yesterday on a FB site I belong to.: Taken from a book by Arthur Weaner: "Taxables Of The Low Dutch Settlement At Conowago." Listed in this book was John Bodine's will. The Will of John Bodine madeMay 10th 1776 and proved Nov.11,1786 is recorded in Your County, PA. I am assuming this was a typo and was supposed to say York County. The Executors were Simon Vanarsdalean and Rev. Cornelius Cozine. There are no gravestones listed (1930) in the Northern Low Dutch Cemetery. There was also a newspaper article on "A bit of history about early Settlers. It says: " Among the colonists of French Extraction at the Conowago settlement were John Bodine whose will was probated in 1786.
Thank you, Private
I did a bit of work on these yesterday and they end up being a second cousin line which doesn’t show at DS or Wikitree but is a direct for a cousin with no MRCA showing for us and so this was very exciting to see here! Just one more reason to love Geni… the abilityto work out relationships and to collaborate with others. I appreciate your comment and I hope to revisit this part of the tree soon. Running into an MP’d profile certainly helped as well.
@Cynthia Curtis, I do apologize for not understanding all the details pertaining "how to's" on working this site. That being said; I have been researching for about 20 years and have been blessed with a great uncle who traced the direct (Dutch Line) maternal grandparents back to Epke Jacobs (Banta) in the 1640's. His research led me to the dutchcousins .org A wealth of information to be had here. I have met many others that are related and have attended three of their gatherings. We are all related to each other many times over to the original " Low Dutch Company". Yet I still have not determined which line my 2nd great grandfather John C. Vanarsdall belongs to. On the paternal side we were blessed to have to elderly relatives travel to Germany and traced The Welches line back to Prussia through Church records. I was recently quite surprised that the Vanarsdall/Vanarsdale line among other dutch surnames were also related in one way or another to the Welches Line. SMH We learn something new everyday.
