@ Pvt. Riggs of Maryland is my Great Great Great Grandfather.
His son Samuel of Ohio and Indiana
His son Stephen of Illinois and Kansas.
His son John Andrew of Kansas and Arkansas is my grandfather.

There is a direct line of succession. He is NOT my cousin.

Hello Elizabeth Riggs

"John Andrew Riggs was born on November 5, 1867, in Shelby County, Illinois, the eldest of six children of Elbridge Marion Riggs and Sarah Ann Hubbartt. "

So your post above isn't correct.

I guess you are referring to Pvt. James Riggs This James indeed has a son Samuel Riggs of Indiana but he has no son (at least not on Geni) named Stephen. He does have a grandson Stephen A. D. Riggs born in Indiana but his man has no spouse or children (on Geni).

Your ancestor Samuel Stephen Riggs seems to be a contemporary and living in proximity to James' grandson Samuel H. Riggs

Thank you for your reply.
My researched Riggs line in America begins with:
JAMES RIGGS 1666-/1744
EDMUND RIGGS 1695/1784
JAMES RIGGS (son of Edmund Riggs and Mary Brook(e) (s)
9/17/1742--d 27/02/1815 . He married Mary Johnson in 1773. James is listed in the census of 08/22/1776. Shortly after this date, he moved to Bedford Co., Penn.
There he served as a Private in Roses Rangers Company during the American Revolution. he received land in what became New Matamoros, Ohio and settled there with several families.
The families were left across the Ohio River whilst the men built an enclosed settlement that was safe from the Indians.
James was married to Mary Johnson. There is evidence that he had a previous wife and two sons: Robert 1764 and Thomas 1767,
James and Mary had 12 children, Samuel O Riggs being the 7th (13/07/1786-03/13/1875), prob Bedford Co., PA
SAMUEL married Elizabeth Ross (05/05/1793-06/19/1874)
check 'HISTORY OF FAYETTE COUNTY, INDIANA' by Heineman. You will learn that Samuel walked to what is not Jennings, Indiana, homesteaded 221 acres and returned for Elizabeth and family. they took a flatboat to Cincinnati and moved, by Oxen, to Jennings.
They had 12 children, Stephen F Riggs (July 4 1819-03/18/1895) was my ancestor.
ELBRIDGE MARION RIGGS (11/05/1866)married Sarah Ann Hubbartt.
My grandfather was his eldest son -JOHN ANDREW RIGGS (11/05/1866-03/05/1936)
THIS LINE HAS BEEN RESEARCHED AND VERIFIED BY CENSUS, CERTIFICATES AND MARRIAGE LISCENSE.

Samuel Stephen is not a direct great-grandparent, but a grand-uncle.
There are many Samuels and Stephens in the Riggs line.
I hope this helps you correct your mistakes.

I see that I skipped Elbridge Marion of Kansas in my original comments.

Hi Elizabeth, Geni is an open and collaborative genealogical website. If you see mistakes fix them.
If you have source documents upload them and attach them to the relevant profiles.
These profiles are not "mine", before today I had never heard of the Riggs family.

S Elizabeth Ranger not Elizabeth Ranger Riggs snd not Elizabeth Riggs Ranger?
