There were multiple parents attached to William. So far, according to "The Dusenbury Family" parents of William Dusenbury were Moses Dusenbury and Unknown.

Ancestry.com. The Dusenbury family [database on-line]. Provo, UT: Ancestry.com Operations Inc, 2004.
Original data:Dusenbury, Bradley A.. The Dusenbury family : consisting principally of the descendants of Hendrick Hendricksen van Doesburg. Port Chester, N.Y.: Privately printed, 1987.

Right now, I believe that Elizabeth Travis is the wife of Moses Dusenbury but was wife of loyalist William Traviss Moses died reputedly in 1776, but according to the note on his profile was Colonel of the Militia at that time.

Perhaps Moses' wife's name was Elizabeth, but was it Elizabeth Travis? Does anyone have anymore information on this link of the Dusenburys. I think they have been muddled around a lot on a number of platforms and here also.

A descendant of William, Rev. Samuel Dusenbury left Westchester County, NY during the War of `1812 as a surgeon's mate where he mustered out in Charleston, SC and moved to Horry County, SC to establish the Southern branch of the family. Any help appreciated.

I meant to say that I believe that Elizabeth Travis IS NOT the wife of Moses Dusenbury, but is the wife of William Travis. Elizabeth seems too young to be the mother of children of Moses.

Agree, seems like an unlikely marriage. http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~wltravis/genealogy/Travis3.html Does not show it. Let’s look at revisions for a bad merge.

Can we put that link on William Travis' profile?

I have wondered if we don't need a "Loyalist" project. From time to time as I run through some families, there will always be one who just doesn't get with the Revolutionary program. From the notes on Elizabeth Travis' page, it seems that family would qualify. I know of a couple others.

We have some issues on up the Dusenbury line, but I am working on them as I can and will see what I can put together for you and Private User to MP. He has worked with me on some of the Southern lines of the family. That War of 1812 thing was a real thing. I found a journal somewhere where one of the Southern descendants went up North to visit after the war. They seemed to have stayed in touch.

Here’s a Wikipedia page to use as basis for a Geni Project.

Separate or same as Tories?

Did you see the “Finding Your Roots” episode with documentarian Ric Burns? There’s a hilarious bit where Dr. Gates introduces him to an ancestor called Eldridge, and Ric is enjoying the name. Until Gates explains he was a Loyalist who went to Canada. Ric practically flips the table, he’s so upset.

LOOOLLLLL! No, but I need to go back and see. My grandmother told me stories as did WW Sellers in History of Marion County.. There is a delightful story of John Osborne Lane and his compatriot (no pun intended) hiding in tree stumps to evade Francis Marion's men.

I always think of Tories as politicians, but maybe they should be lumped together for a project. Not my speciality, but I will work on it. I suspect that a few of us have run across some and are even related by marriage, of course. ;-)

Going to make the project. Will send an invitation to you and some people.

Here’s your Horry County connection!

Yes, I think of Loyalists as a much narrower category than Tories.

And - I need to get over my knee jerk / Patriot reaction to “hang ‘em high.”

I really didn’t know how patriotic I was until doing genealogy.

- Proud descendant of 11 DAR Patriots, thanks to Faustine

Yes, I have the Horry genealogy, but does it go back that far? I didn't think so or I would have sourced it back when I went through the first time.

Sent invitations to you and Faustine Darsey on hiatus. Hope she accepts as I know she has to run across them. John Deer, Sr. Osborne Lane's compatriot was married to a woman of distinguished patriots. I bet that meant for interesting Sunday dinners.

Re. Yes, I have the Horry genealogy, but does it go back that far? I didn't think so or I would have sourced it back when I went through the first time.

Yes, she has notes back to HENDRICK HENDRICKSEN VAN DOESBURG (1630-1689):

Will work from there, then. I had this line straight back a year ago. Private User MPd several that he and I worked on in the South. When I get done, will get what I can MPs.

I don't see but one parent listed anywhere for Hendrick Hendricksen van Doesburg and that is Hendrick VanDoesburg

The full text of "The Dusenbury Family" notes no parents for Henrich married to Marritjen Hendricks van Haarlem . I am not sure where the other wife to Henrich is coming from either Geesje Arentsen Pier I find no record of her with the van Doseburgs.

Could this be a bad merge too, Erica Howton?

Yes, it was a bad merge. Almost fixed.

Thanks so much, Erica Howton. The lines are looking so much better!
