In a discussion with David's granddaughter (my mother) Doris Freed some years back, she tentatively identified her mother Mary's father as "David Morris Greenstein". At the time, I assumed that this was his birthname. I don't recall now how we concluded that it was originally Beck, or if this came from the co-maintainer of this record.
