Loy Shing and Helen White married and had two children - Ella May Shing and Wallace Shing. Half brother and sister to Denton children. Ella May Shing is my great grandmother. Ella May had a son, named him George Alfred Shing (no father’s name listed). George Alfred Shing had a relationship with Mary Weinberg, resulting in my father Neville George Satchell (adopted by a Satchell).
Hello Harold, I only know Loy Shing and Helen (Nellie) White had a daughter, Ella May Shing, and son, Wallace Shing. I don’t know of an Ada Shing. Ella May Shing had a son George Alfred Shing, who is my biological Grand-father (my Dad’s father). My Dad is now 80 years old. George Shing married twice after his relationship with my biological Grandmother, Ellena Ida Binns (nee Weinberg).
We have always known of our connection to George Alfred Shing, Ella May, and Loy Shing. My father was adopted and his name is Neville George Satchell. My son, Kyle Bird, decided to have his DNA checked and also confirmed the connection. There was a DNA match, the Southern China/Southern Japanese Islands, which is connected to Loy Shing. That DNA match was listed as “mcollr” who used Ancestary.com. George Shing did marry a Roberta McColl and had a child but I haven’t been able to find any records with their name. It also appears George Shing married a Freda Stuart.
The Shing connection on my Dad’s side stops at Loy Shing. It got me going, and now I’ve decided to have my own DNA tested. A lot of fun trying to puzzle together parts of my family tree. Through ancestary.com I have come up a few bits of documentation regarding Wallace Shing, Ella Shing, etc. There is a Daryl Shing who went to Nelson College in 1985, and most likely is my Father’s half brother, sharing same father, George Alfred Shing. George Shing was an architect in Nelson. Daryl Shing raised in Nelson, and is now an architect in Auckland.
Thank you for your reply. It was nice figuring out where the connection with the Denton family, and yourself, came from. Through Helen White (Denton & Shing).
