LONGMEADOW - Margaret R. (Coyne) Camp, 61, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, after being stricken ill at home on Monday. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Lucas Coyne and Patrick J. Coyne of Oil City, PA.
She leaves her loving family: her husband of 38 years, Joel F. Camp, and children: J.T. Camp, Jamie Camp and his wife Nicole, Andrew Camp and fiancé, Elizabeth Moy, Nora Camp, and Tyler Camp. Maggie also leaves her five siblings: Mary Ann Pack and husband Michael of Houston, TX, Patricia Winger and husband Daniel, and Dolores Coyne, of Saint Joseph, MI, Rose Porter and husband Thomas of Sturbridge, MA, and Joseph Coyne of West Middlesex, PA, one brother-in-law, and three sisters-in-law. She is also survived by twenty-four nieces and nephews and thirteen grand nieces and nephews.
Maggie grew up in Oil City, PA and after graduating from Venango Christian High School, entered the convent of the Order of Saint Benedict in Erie, PA. She was a member of the "Sisters 66" choir, famous for a singing appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. After leaving the convent she met her husband Joel, whom she loved dearly.
Maggie was a talented singer and a frequent soloist for years at Saint Joseph's Church in Warren, PA. She majored in Special Education at Mercyhurst College, dedicated time to special needs children, was a Girl Scout leader, and until the time of her death, loved her work as a Special Education Aide at Longmeadow High School. Among her many passions, being a wife and mother was foremost. Along with her humor and kindness she passed on her talents of art, dancing, and music to her children, her greatest pride. She was deeply loved and will be truly missed by her friends and family.
Mrs. Camp's funeral will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 8:45 a.m. at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 519 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, MA. Rites of committal will follow in Longmeadow Cemetery , Longmeadow, MA. Family and friends are invited to the visiting hours on Friday, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101 First Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA, 02154.
