Incorrect before the act of Union and the Sots Stewart Kings were crowned as the "Stuarts" of England

The intent is to show the current area name. It's not explained at all on the page and is confusing to general users. Complaints have been made in the past to Geni about it and those complaints have fallen on deaf ears.

I am sure that my Scots relatives born before the act of Union would strenuously object to being subject to England, in fact may fought the english crown and died as a result.

If this is the reason, then why aren't current borders currently "enforced" for other countries? The Alsace-lorraine region is
case in point.

At least the 'Powers that be' should give us minions a choice in the matter.

Personally, I think for genealogy that we need to have both the current day & historic place name. For example the shtetls of the Pale of Russia / Poland / Ukraine, which no longer exist, are best identified by GPS coordinates and “nearby” places, but our records show the historic name. So it’s really better labeling needed, and leaving politics aside.
