This Donald is my 3x Great Grandfather. I have a copy of his birth certificate from Scotland’s people . His father’s name was John MacKinvin not Alexander. The name was originally MacKinnon but after 1745 those who stayed in Scotland had to change their name as they were Jacobites. Those who stayed in Scotland used Love or MacKinven. Those who went abroad retained or changed back to MacKinnon.
