Merging Profiles

Please do not merge profiles if you are not connected and are only doing so to hone your amateur genealogical “skills”. I locked down my profile after learning that a Geni member was merging my family profiles without providing me any input or suggestions.

Theresa Marketti - Geni's goal is one - and only one - profile for each person.
So Geni wants people to merge all duplicates.

I do agree with you that making profiles private so you will have a chance to check the accuracy and agree to or refuse the merge may make very good sense.
