We have records the Bingham Family were members of the Church of England and Episcopal Church. Are we confusing them with the Bingham’s that were Quaker? Are they actually kin to the Bingham Family of New Jersey?

. Is Bridget connected to the wrong family? This Bingham family were never Quaker- Unless, Bridget left the Quaker Religion. We did find a Will for her son James with property in Burlington County as well as Philadelphia.

We should be able to find additional meeting records for James Bingham, perhaps they joined the Quaker’s and son James II left the religion- records will show.

We will have to check this out, it may actually fill in a bit of the lineage.

Location is wrong. I think Bridget Woodley May have married JAMES Bingham of Essex, not John of London. Her husband is noted as a “yeoman.”

Notes for Bridget Woodley

1670-71 For two years in a row, 1670 and 1671, the constables for Newport, Essex, presented Bridgett Bingham, the wife of James Bingham, for absenting herself from the parish Church. In 1670 it was for "three seuerall sondayes last past" [1] In 1671, named a widow, Bridgett Bingham was presented again for absenting herself from church for 4 Sundays. [2]
