After Susan Edwards married Owen Owens 5 MAR 1839 at Forsyth Co GA they traveled 23 miles from Cherokee Co where they were in district 971 of the 1840 GA census. The only Edwards in the 1840 Forsyth Co GA census was Littleberry who came there after 1836 when a daughter was b in SC. His oldest documented child was Sarah b 1828 SC and next was my ancestor William A. b 1829 at SC.
Using Sarah as a starting place LBE and Nelly m abt, 1827 at SC when LBE was 22 and Nelly 20. He was b 1805 and Nelly's marker has her b 21 APR 1807. But if you use Susan Edwards Owens b 1822 SC as a starting place LBE and Nelly m 1821, when he 16 and she was 14.
Therefore, this is the only thing that makes sense. Susan Edwards Owens was certainly related to LBE, females did not travel alone from one state to another. She had to be his niece or a cousin that he and Nelly took in before they left SC. This would explain autosomal DNA matches to descendants of LBE's children. It is impossible to identify Susan's parents but I am sure her grand parents were Andrew Edwards and Elizabeth Meador. She icould be an undocumented adopted daughter, a common event forever.
