There is no proof that this family is descended from the family in Crosthwaite in England.

It would be prudent to disconnect the profile.

There are far too many American immigrants on Geni having unsubstantiated ancestors with the aim of "proving" descent.

If there are no records and there is huge uncertainty then the tree should be cleaned up.

You are correct. Please disconnect.

Both of those that you highlighted are very old sources and I would check with the Strickland dna project to see if there is updated information.. Many Matthews, Edwards, and George Strickland‘s are all from Crosthwaite.. doesn’t mean they have to be directly connected to the Sizergh Castle Stricklands.. and who knows they could be but as nephews, cousins and seconds..

Has there been any proof found connecting Matthew Strickland, I, to Crosthwaite in England since the April posting? I am at the point now of trying to connect this Matthew Strickland to his English birthplace. Was it proven that Matthew was born in Crosthwaite. I see lots of info out there saying this birth place. Strickland DNA project shed any light on this person. I am not a great researcher so I do not know how to check this source.

Disputed origins

Matthew Strickland, of Isle of Wight Is seen as born February 20, 1626 Crosthwaite and Lyth, Kendal, Westmoreland, England, son of Edward Arthur Strickland, Ill & Elizabeth Basse Strickland but no evidence is offered.
