John Knight and his sister Ann came to America with William Penn arriving on the Society in August 1682. Their brothers Abel and Giles came on the Welcome which left England August 30, 1682 and arrived at New Castle on the Delaware the second week of November. Giles was accompanied on the voyage by his wife Mary English and son, Joseph Knight.
Giles Knight (probably of Gloucestershire, England) M'd (1) Elizabeth Williams-children-Benjamin, Abel, and John. M'd (2) Elizabeth Payne-children-Giles, Ann, and Thomas. Of these children of Giles Knight, Abel and Benjamin have not been accurately documented as to what became of them, (if they ever really existed). John Knight went to Massachusetts and has many descendants. Giles Jr., and his half brother John did emigrate from Gloucestershire, England to Pennsylvania aboard the ship Society in 1682. Remarks-Giles wife's name was Mary and that he was age 39. This is also when William Penn came to Pennsylvania. Giles, Thomas, and Ann settled near Byberry, Pennsylvainia. Giles and Thomas were both weavers. Thomas Fream's will, probated in 1682, in Philadelphia County, names Giles, Thomas, and Ann as brothers and sister.
