There is considerable confusion about the date of his death. The tombstone (where he was reinterred to after 1881) says June 7, 1873, the obituary says July 6, 1873 (but signed with "June 7" instead of "July 7"), I'm pretty sure that July 6 is correct, as the burial was on July 8.
