Primary sources on this profile contradict each other. Which is he?

John Mcdonald In Scotland, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950

  • Christening: June 19 1749 Eddlestone, Peebles, Scotland
  • Father: Donald Mcdonald

John Mcdonald In Scotland, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950

  • Christening: Oct 12 1749 Canongate, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland
  • Father: Donald Mcdonald
  • Mother: Jean Aitkin

Also neither has the unsourced Mary Agnes MacDonald as a mother.

What validates NN Thomson as his wife;

or either of these two as the parent of James Macdonald

From where are the mother's sources coming?Mary Agnes MacDonald

  • Mary Agnes Broun MacDonald
  • Gender: Female
  • Birth: 1691
  • Immediate Family:
  • Daughter of Catharine Broun MacDonald
  • Wife of Donald 'Mor' MacDonald
  • Mother of James Macdonald; John Angus MacDonald, VI and Margaret MacDonald
  • Half sister of Donald 'Mor' MacDonald and Common Ancestor MacDonald

From where does the Angus come?

I'm removing it, pending sources that contradict the ones we're using here.

This profile was originally entered as John MacDonald by Private User before a (possibly erroneous) merge. I'm reverting it to that.

Johns and Anns children have prolems at birthday, there seem to be possibility may have been wrong merges in early profiles.

Colin would have born 20 years before then mother Ann. Also father John would have been 5 yrs old.

Angus also - Ann would be 2 years old mother

Captain McDonald might be ok, but also Ann would be very young mother, but that use to happen.
