Wilma and Patricia, this is as far as I'm prepared to go without Theunis' permission. This is his personal immediate family and it looks like a mis-merge not initiated by him was one of the problems here.
I've undone that and stabilised from documentation you found (thank you) where I can,
but now let him sort out Willem Sterrenberg McDonald's position in his own time - as much as it may be incorrect on the world tree, it is more incorrect to work in his immediate family without his permission.

I'm undoing this merge https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=82024484180 because, although the person is the same - this is where the misplaced Willem Sterrenberg comes from.

I would go with the baptism document, unless you can find enough documents from later in his life to suggest that it was a clerical error.
You need to find the actual documents though, Wilma.

It looks to me - if the profile for Magdalena Petronella Scheepers born 15-9-1937 is correctly married to Willem Sterrenberg Mc Donald born 21-1-1927. What do you think?

With verbal tradition handed over to us - I have never found a Steynberg in the McDonald line - that is the family of my husband. I still think that Steynberg could have been a recording mistake? Your valued opinions plz?

I have not yet found a record of Magdalena having a son of this name, but she does have at least one grandson called Willem Sterrenberg McD, so perhaps this is where the profile fits (as the son of TG McD)

What is going on here?

Do we have maybe 2 Willems's on GEni ( IEEEWH that would be a big smachup on the general MCDonald line!!!) - or am I right, that Willem is actually Willem Sterrnberg McDonald and that his baptism -as Willem "Steynberg" McDonald - was just a recording mistake in the Stenberg?
