I got a merge request on this profile today, even though I'm not one of the profile managers or know much about him. I just know he's an ancestral uncle-in-law to me via his McLain wife.
Ancestry has his mother as: Susannah Elizabeth "Susie" Gardner
Birth 1793
Death 18 May 1875
but I've never added any parents to her in my tree, so I can't really resolve the merge issues that would result to his mother. I believe his father was actually named Gouldsberry Walley I and that Goldsbury is a later change folks have made to his name. On Ancestry somehow has a cropped screenshot from his Find-a-Grave page but no link to the actual page. Anyway it shows this info that mentions the parents of this Willis Berry Walley:
"Married Susannah Gardner. Ten children. Four brothers and one sister married Gardners from Marion county S.C.Son of Thomas Walley and Mary Walley. Baptists. Buried in Lazarus Walley Cemetery on Gouldsberry's home place"
and it uses the Gouldsberry spelling for the cemetery location, indicating it's a surname in the family lines that has been passed down.
