Rumor has always been that Polly Crane was Native American /Cherokee. I see absolutely no proof. I suggest her father was a Crane who lived in Greenville around 1810 to 1812. Marriage to John was around 1812 I believe . Charles Crane is listed in the 1810 Greenville census and only a few names away from a John Langford. I suspect the John Langford in the census is John Langford’s father, possibly he was exact same name so could be referred to as Sr. Many people confuse the John Langford’s with the North Carolina John Langford’s. The elder John Langford from North Carolina, father of John Dole Langford, a reading of his will clearly shows that he is not a South Carolina or later, Tennessee, John Langford nor the father of John Langford that ended up in Overton/Jackson County, Tennessee. Who will figure out really who Polly Crane’s father is? Old myth’s say Kunnochatutloh. That is nonsense and again, like her husband John Langford, has no proof to support it and makes no sense. There is absolute proof to support that my South Carolina/Greenville John Langford’s and Tennessee Overton/Jackson County John Langford’s are NOT the Warren North Carolina John Langford’s. Someone please help identify the true ancestry for John Langford and his wife, Mary Polly Crsne Langford !
