LOTS of folks on Ancestry have given him middle initial C.......he was not given a middle initial.

There is no birth record in Stonington, but he had a Bible, with all of the births recorded....

I have Jr's birth, death & marriage. I also have his Bible with all of the children listed.
What I do NOT find is a connection between him and his parents....nothing says he is the son of Samuel & Lucy Hempstead. Jr.uses the name Jr. in his Bible, He uses Jr. when he bought & sold land in Stonington. He is listed as administrator for his b-i-l probate in 1803, sister Lucretia signs a note requesting her father take over. Can't prove Samuel & Lucretia are siblings. In 1816 Jr pastures cattle on the Pequot land with Richard (brother), can't prove they are brothers. In 1818 Samuel Sr writes his will in his deed, and gives everything to Richard. By 1820, Jr is in NY as there is a baby b Duchess Co, he is in the NY 1830 census.
