Seems to indicate his father was Alan de Montgomerie of Eaglesham with mother unknown, rather than the John de Montgomery and Helena of Kent given in the profile.

Parents of John of this profile were Alan and unknown. Alan's parents were John and Helen Kent.

Origin and history of the Montgomerys pgs 103-104.
Sir John married Helen, daughter of Robert de Kent. He was succeeded by his son Alan. Alan died about 1237 leaving three sons: Robert, who succeeded him; John, who succeeded Robert; and Henry.
Sir John II succeeded his brother about 1260. He is said to have married Margaret, dau of William Murray . . .

It is difficult or impossible to construct an accurate pedigree for the earliest members of the Montgomery family, because evidence of relationship is not always available. Links to some of the published accounts of the family follow:

Stirnet explains the difficulty involved in constructing a pedigree quite well.
