Peter Christopher DeLuca Filomena died in 1877, but I see an obituary for an Antonina Lo Sasso in 1947 that says "sister of Rose Benanti and Sam Romane" which sure fits Antonina "Lena" LoSasso
Yes. I'm pretty sure there were just four siblings. Rose Arena Benanti, Filomena Arena, Antonina "Lena" Arena LoSasso and Sam Romano. If you agree, should we merge the extra records to fit that "fact"? Salvatore "Sam" Romano is as you know my great-grandfather. I'm still looking for confirmation priving who his biological father was. I've seen it listed in some trees that it was Rosario Manzella (who was buried with his mother Pietra Romano in 1917)... and I have also seen trees that list Francesco Arena as his father (like his siblings Rose, Filomena and Antonina). On a marriage document for Sam and Rosa Scimeca, his father is listed as Francesco Romano. What can you offer to help me know for certain who his biological parents were that might explain why his last name is Romano instead of Arena or Manzella? I can't find his birth record anywhere. I have a few other people trying to solve this mystery. I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
I see these two Antonina
Antonina "Lena" LoSasso (wife of Sam LoSasso whose wife died in 1914)
Antonina "Lena" LoSasso (wife of Francesco Randazzo who died in 1914).
So the time line for those fit to be merged... Then there is the Antonina birth record in 1877. It's a little funny that's 5 years from the birth date I have seen...but if you look at her passenger list from 1901 saying she is 23 years old it fits...
Then the two Rose profiles...I don't see any other Rose births or deaths in Altavilla so those could be the same Rose.
Filomena...and Sam...
So yeah after those merges it would be 4 siblings. I'm fine with merging them....I even looked in Trabia to see if they had children that were born or died there during those years, but didn't see them.
So Pietra Romano was born in 1848.... She married Francesco Arena in 1872. They had a daughter Rosa named for Francesco's mother, but then it's a little puzzling why they named daughters Filomena and Antonina....and then why Sam Romano...
I haven't seen anything on Francesco Arena's death or her marriage or Rosario Manzella except for the passenger list in 1901 stating her husband is Rosario Manzella.
If Francesco Arena was his father you'd think he's have the last name Arena...and if Francesco died while Pietra was pregnant you'd think he may have been named Francesco.
If Pietra was already married to Rosario Manzella you would think he'd have the last name Manzella, BUT if Sam was born she married Rosario Manzella then it could make sense that she gave him her own last name.
it's too bad we can't find much on them at all....Pietra and Antonina's passenger list says they were in Trabia so i wonder if they were somewhere else too.
I see Sam had three sons? Do any of them have living sons? It could be interesting for one of them to take a Y-DNA test...and then maybe we can recruit a Manzella to also test and see if they are a match.
