I am contacting you about this profile: George Barker, Jr.

We have a surplus of George Barkers and very little source material to go on.

While feel fairly confident about George Barker d.1841 husband of Frankey Kerr, I am less certain about the others.

The will of George Barker d. 1788 Lists children:
Israel, John, James, George, Susannah, and Mary.

We can only guess if the George Barker listed there is G.Barker d. 1841

There is a George Barker listed in Caswell, NC county in 1790, 1800, and 1810 which is where G.Barker d. 1788 died.

In 1820 we have a George Barker in Maury County,TN

In 1830 we have a George Barker in Carrol County,TN (another George?)

In 1840 we have George Barker in Maury County, TN

George died in 1841 and his obituary in the Tennessee Democrat detailed his birth date, his service in the Revolution and the fact that he had 13 living children.

His marriage (18 Oct 1783) to Frances "Frankey" Carr is documented in NC marriage records

He mentions 12 of his thirteen children in his will:
David Barker, Mary Brown, William Barker, Alexander Barker. Sarah Rummage, Frankey Cranford, Keziah Johnson, John Barker, James Barker, Lusindy Harris and Nancy Rummage. Betsy Baucom is not mentioned.

When I look at George's profile today, I find that:
He is listed as the son of his wife
He is listed as the husband of three women when he is only known to have only had one wife
He is listed as the father of 24 children when only 13 are known.
He has a half brother Hezekiah and George and a brother name Hezekiah George

I realize this has happened because there are so many Barkers with the same name. Can we perhaps clean this up some?

My suspicions have been confirmed. Upon researching what I could find and what was provided per George Stanley Barker, it appears that George Barker of Caswell NC later Maury TN has been confused with George Barker of Wilkes NC and possibly another one or two George Barkers as well.

I agree with George on the following:

Here's what I have. This information was gathered by my uncle Fred Hawkins and published in his book HARDISON AND ALLIED FAMILIES.

George Barker, Jr. was born in Louisa County, Virginia in 1759. He was the fourth son of George Barker, Sr. and his wife Susannah Perkins. George Sr. is first listed as a land owner in Louisa County property rolls in 1763. We have been unable to trace George, Sr. farther back than this. Other researchers have attempted to connect him to various other Barkers, but DNA testing refutes these claims. I REPEAT: DNA testing refutes claims of any connections of George Barker, Sr. to currently identified Barker lines.

In 1780, George Jr. enlisted in Capt. Sanders' Company of Col. Timmons' Regiment of the North Carolina Line. He fought in the Battle of Charleston and was taken prisoner of the British. Released as part of a prisoner exchange, he returned to the fight against the British.

In 1783, he was married to Frances "Frankie" Kerr, daughter of Alexander Kerr and his wife Mary Elizabeth Rice Kerr, in Caswell County, NC. They settled in Maury County, TN in 1814. They had the following children:

I agree that there are FAR TOO MANY George Barker Jrs.
