According to Family Search, Thomas Levi McDaniel (1826-1881) was the son of Silas McDaniel (born 1794 in Jones, North Carolina; died 1869 in Florida) and Joyce Cryer (born Jan. 30, 1801 Georgia). Silas McDaniel was the son of John McDaniel (born 1742 in Craven, North Carolina; died 1817 in Jones, North Carolina) & Winnie Ottery (died 1810). John and Winnie married Dec. 20, 1781 in Duplin, North Carolina. Thomas Levi McDaniel had a sister, Elizabeth McDaniel (April 13, 1827- Oct. 28, 1901, Delight, Arkansas) who married Elijah W. Kelley.
