per Rory Cain of the Cain Project at Family Tree DNA members of descendants of Nicholas Cain did what they call the big Y. Their haplogroup came out as FGC46414 not R-FGC31878 which is a McCain family haplogroup. I can trace William Cain, born in Virginia around 1775 to be my 4th great grandfather. I don't know who his father is but it is not Edmond Cain son of Nicholas. I did the big Y and was R-FGC31878. So those who think William Cain(McCain) is the son of Edmond need to find another William Cain.
