Robert was most certainly not born in Barbados. Robert was born in Virginia after his father's first wife died shortly after arrival, about 1660. Robert was John and Anne’s first born son, named no doubt after his grandfather. His date of birth 1660/61 is conjecture based on the death of his father’s first wife and his subsequent marriage to Anne. Robert grew up at Whitby and inherited 100 acres from the part of the plantation upon which the family home rested as would be expected for a first born son. But certainly he was born after 1660 and in Virginia.
