Karel Everhard de Waal Malefijt emigrated with his wife Jemima van der Snel, On May 20, 1897, Jemima leaves from Aalsmeer where they had a plant and flower nursery with five children to South Africa to live in Elandsfontein. Karel Everhard is going to work at the South African railways. And also fights in the last Farmers War between 1899 and 1902. Two children are born in South Africa.
