Hello

According to Ancestry.com Gudmund Olsen died on 24/03/1958, I was wondering if you or anyone knows of any children for Gudmund's brothers as; there is a Huycke (Harold) collection 1868-2007 at the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park where someone who's last name is Olsen did a two part audio interview about Gudmund in the 70's. I'm hoping to find a living relative of that person as they might have more insights about Gudmund's siblings and their relatives. To my knowledge; Gudmund only had two children Mildred Clarice Olsen who was born in 1905 and passed in 1978, who was married to Ralph Patrick Barry who was born in 1904 and died in 1968. They had a daughter Joan Mildred Barry born in 1939 and died in 2001, who appears to have never married or had children. Gudmund's daughter Mildred had a brother Ernest Olsen (my Grandfather), who was born on Jan 06th 1902 and died April 28th 1976. They had three daughters including my mother Paula Christine Olsen who married my Father Marvin Earl Dickinson. Right now I am still researching my family tree, as I am trying to make sure I have everything correct, and hope to get some local help organizing it. I have found the family tree builders on various websites a bit difficult due to not being able to add siblings for various family members but familysearch.org seems to be a bit more flexible. I should receive the digitized copy of the interview about Gudmund Olsen in about two months, and hopefully won't have any copyright issues blocking me from sharing it with family. Once the San Francisco Maritime Museum get's back to me on this, I will let folks know so we can figure out a way to make the audio files available for download.

Gudmund Olsen was a lumbership captain who traveled up and down the California coast, I have found a .pdf file online that is an interview about his life aboard these lumberships. He was nicknamed Gudmund "Midnight" Olsen, as while other captains were afraid to sail into port after dark, due to fear of running aground on the sandbars of Humboldt Bay, Gudmund did so and won a bit with someone at a local bar that he could make it back to port and to the bar before midnight, which is how he got the nickname "Midnight".

I'm still new to using the genealogy sites, but was able to upload a page from Gudman's Gudmund Olsen Seaman's Protection Papers that has his photo.
