John Barlow, Sr. was presumed to have been born in Albermarle County, VA (yes that's Jefferson territory) in 1746. That is where he lived before he moved to NC.He and several relatives owned land on Pritty's Creek in Albermarle County. There are land records on the family in Albermarle and Orange Counties in VA. His father is now apparently traced to be Thomas Barlow, born in Hanover VA in 1719, who was possibly- but not proven- to be the son of Henry Barlow of King and Queen County, born 1695. There is no way to trace this to K and Q county since its courthouse burned during the Civil War.
