Hey Cynthia! How do you connect to Sally? I descend from her (supposed) daughter Nancy. Nancy had an older brother with the name Stinson and I suspect that Stinson may have been a family name as Stinson's lived in Virginia.
I was under the impression that Sarah was the 2nd wife of John that he had in Tennessee.
I am also very curious how the children from John Adcock and Sally Wheeler in Virginia ended up in Morgan, Georgia and John went to Tennessee.
I have yet to find concrete evidence of my Nancy being the child of John and Sally.
Let me know your thoughts.
Jennifer Blinn hi!
I am familiar with the name Adcock in my paternal side and expect it to become closest as the tree is filled in/corrected but the most important part is the bottom up rather than the top down for now because it is the Adcock descendants themselves who will be able to help build that foundation.
Often, I will work in an area of the Big Tree because I am chasing down a DNA match or adding a branch to the tree from my DNA cousins but today I ran into them again as a result of a question in my Inbox here on Geni.
Unfortunately, it seems if one works on a branch and gets very familiar and then does not revisit for a while, it all gets fuzzy again.
I try to use the 1850 census and FindaGrave to put family groups together and I have found that having a family GROUP in place is key so tha is what I try to do.
I used to only work on direct lines and discovered the women are often missing their ancestors until we work on male siblings and find them in the records that way.
IF correct, her husband John is showing as my 5th cousin 6 generations removed:

Pvt John Asa Adcock 's records and FAG show he was on the "U.S. Revolutionary War Rolls, 1775-1783" but I do not see him in DAR so perhaps his descendants have not submitted yet.
And I do not know 100% that this is them but I am thankful you added it :)

Hi Cynthia! I know that there is a Sons of the AR application for John Adcock.
Also, there is a whole file for John Adcock, age 66, in Tennessee, trying to get a pension for him, his 33-year-old (2nd?) wife, and their kids (all young). I have it saved in my Ancestry account.
Nancy Ann Adcock is my brick wall. I wish I knew if this Sally was her mother.
