A marriage has been proposed for Archibald Alexander of Ballbiglimore and Elizabeth McKay, daughter of John McKay of Braegul, but evidence of the marriage has not been found. Certainly, no mention of it is made in Stirnet's report on the McKay family.

Can anyone provide a verifiable source reference for the proposed marriage

Archibald Alexander married Elizabeth Mackey, of Ballybiglimore parents unknown. Her name is on his tombstone and described in the book, Memorials of the Earl of Sterling and of the house of Alexander by Rogers, Charles, (1825-1890), page 88:

She died in 1715, and is on her husband's tombstone thus commemorated : " Here lyeth the body of Elizabeth Mackey, wife of Archibald Alexander, who departed this life 30th January 1715, aged 78 years."

This Elizabeth has been separated from Elizabeth Mackay, of Strathy who married Patrick Sinclair of Ulbster

There is no reason to think they were the same person.
