70 YEARS AGO – AUGUST 28, 1952
Waynesboro businessman Joseph Daitch was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement during ground operations in the European Theatre in World War II. Mr. Daitch had originally turned down the award when it was initially offered during the war. It was for a direct hit with a grenade which disabled a tank, thrown by Mr. Daitch.
