I believe that Samuel Johannes Jakobus is the same person as Samuel Benjamin Lowies. As is cited from the baptism record, we know Samuel Johannes Jakobus was born on 16 May 1881 to Jan Lowies (otherwise known as John Lewis) and Elsje Gouws. Samuel Benjamin Lowies, who died 23 August 1956, was born on 17 May 1881 (one day difference) according to his civil death registration. Additionally, there is another Samuel Benjamin Lowies (born 23 October 1927, died unknown), who is the son of Lodewijk Jacobus Lowies, himself the son of Jan Lowies and Elsje Gouws, which, according to my theory, would make Lodewijk the brother of Samuel Benjamin. It is probable that he could have named his child after his brother. Finally, given the rarity of the surname Lowies—with in fact no mention of it on Wikipedia and only 2,128 individuals bearing this surname in FamilySearch's database—it makes it more plausible that Samuel Benjamin Lowies could be the son of Jan Lowies and Elsje Gouws. The only thing I cannot explain is why he would have changed his middle name(s), nor can I think of any reason for it.

Given the nature of this evidence I thought it would be best to take it to the discussion board before merging the profiles together. I would greatly appreciate any input on this theory of mine.
