I don't know how to fix this mess! James Fleming b. 1786 Kilmacolm, Renfrewshire married Margaret LAIRD (not Laviel) on 27 July 1809 in Kilmacolm, Renfrewshire, Scotland. I have attached the official list of their children from the National Records of Scotland to his profile. A totally separate couple are James Fleming, b. 1792 Avondale, Lanarkshire who married Margaret HAMILTON on 28 April 1821 in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, Scotland. In addition, there is a third couple James Flemming and Marguret Flemming b. 1801 who are from Brantingham, Yorkshire, England. I don't have any information about them.
One of the many problems about this record is that the children attached are for James Fleming and Margaret Hamilton - but descendants of both couples have linked their trees to this wrong couple. I started to correct the records but the problem is to decide which couple is the correct one. Do I treat this woman as Margaret LAIRD or do I treat this woman as Margaret HAMILTON? We really need to create profiles for each of these 3 separate women.
