DNA has proved the Cucklemaker legend to be a fantasy. I know this will upset some people who like to claim NA heritage. I do think there is NA heritage, but the story does not present the reality. The NA heritage is before the historical setting of the Cucklemaker fantasy. The matches with Basses give a clue. The heritage is either Chowanoc or Nansemond. The latter is disputed, Nansemond and I don't know where the truth lies. DNA does not lie. Our interpretation of it may be flawed. My thought are that the lineage connects to Elizabeth the Nansemond and the unknown African of the John Bass prayer book. This means that my line of Cales are not Cales, but Basses and the Basses are not Basses, but "unknown African." I am therefore "unknown African," by DNA, Haplogroup A traced to Senegambia, the M-31 subclade. The Basses bifurcate into two Haplgroups, A and R. A is African, M-31 subclade and R is European. This information provides the clue to two separate NPE events. We may not know for sure where these occurred, but they clearly did.

It seems the M-31 subclade is found along the Gambia River in Senegal. I present this as a best fit of facts and not as absolute truth. Please dispute this proposition, but with factual DNA and accurate archive. I welcome the latter, but not wild speculation poorly documented secondary sourcing. Have at what I propose and disprove it with fact, if you will. I am open to that, The truth is always stranger than the fiction! WFC, Dr. Billy.
