Hi Cousin.
I have done extensive research on the Floyd Family of Horry, Marion, and Dillon Counties SS and Robeson and Coulumbus Counties, NC and established the project that you metoned.
If you check the profile of Austin/Orson Floyd and click on the "read more" you will find a wealth of information about Austin.
I created his profile as it was evident that he existed, was connected by blood and property to the other members of the family due to a number of court transactions. I think that Austin was one of the older members of the family and perhaps the last to move to Horry County. It seems he served in the American Revolution as we have records now that indicate that, but his claim was denied I supsect due to crossing state lines and the lack of a substantial DAR claim. Many Southern patriots have not had the DAR attention - no fault of the DAR, but of Southern patriots whose families got more involved with the Civil War than the American Revoltion to their discredit and loss of records.
I can honestly say that Austin/Osten Floyd existed and I have documented him. I claim him as an uncle. I was able to add him to his mother, but need to request a curator add him to Andrew Johnson as a son. I am descendant of TWO of the indicated sons of Andrew Floyd - Frederick Floyd I and Francis Floyd I - who as you note is your line.
Sadly, as I note on his profile, I do not know of his wife's name or his children's. I have documented a couple of Floyd women who could be his daughters. One married into the Larrimore family (another patriot family).
I do know that the name "Austin" has been picked up from time to time within family lines.
I will call on a curator to review the problem and worrk with me.
