The first James Foley has an "obituary" that says he died in Grayson County, VA in1812,,yet claims he is buried in Mt. Crawford, over 200 miles away. He is not the James Foley who was married to Phoebe Koontz and who died in 1853. James in Mt Crawford is the one married to Phoebe Koontz. He was never married to Martha Byrd. Someone ignorant of geography has really messed up this memorial..

This Jane is supposedly the same person as Martha Jane

I added a new profile for husband of Phoebe and disconnected the one needing unmerged.

He was merged at WIkitree-- no info there: merge of James Foley (1777-1824) and James Foley (1777-abt.1812) and only married to Jane.

I do not believe he and Moses Jr are twins.
I cannot see the date of birth on James's but I can for Moses Jr.

There is also a question of whether James son of Moses married once or twice

James Foley of Rockingham County, Virginia, is not the same as James Foley, son of Moses Foley and Elizabeth Green. Moses and his family lived in Rappahanock County, Virginia and migrated to southwest Virginia and on to Kentucky. He did have son, James, b. in Feb. 1777, who married Nancy Byrd and died in 1812.(apparently a twin brother of Moses Jr.).
According to a biographical sketch in "Hardesty's Encyclopedia" (1885), Rockingham County, p. 22. James W. Foley of Mt. Crawford was born in 'eastern Virginia" and settled in Rockingham Couty as a young man. (No parents listed). His tombstone, in the Mt. Crawford cemetery, shared with his wife, Phebe, gives his death date as March 18, 1853, "age 75 years, 3 months and 6 days." That puts his birth date at December 12, 1777. (not 1778). The Find A grave memorial erroneously gives his name as James J. Foley,, however the photograph of the stone shows it as James W. Foley. The Find A Grave memorial for James W. Foley, only shows the gate of the cemetery and gives information on the family of Moses Foley, none of whom ever lived or died in Mt. Crawford!!!
