second cousin four times removed is outside Max Family. Second cousin twice removed is considered by Geni the equivalent of 4th cousin. More removeds than that and it is outside the Max Family -- you may think of them as family, Geni does not recognize them as family.
No explanation needed for removing a manager of a profile in one's Max Family who is not also in the Profile's Max Family.
One frequent reason folks may choose to do so - they find they do not like the choices the other person makes. But no reason is needed.
