Samuel Richard Whitehurst can be found however his parents are not known. When he joined the confederate army in northern Virginia in 1863 his name was changed. I know that I don’t have any traces of him prior to 1863. Born? Henry County Alabama August 8, 1847 is the information I have and it is also unknown if that is correct however it has never been a point of discussion. In 1870 the population of Bossier Parish, was below 5,400 people so to find two families where the husband, wife and a brother have the same ages and two of the three have also the correct name is highly unlikely
1870 census Louisiana Bossier parish listed in the household of J D Walker is L Whitehurst age 22, S R Whitehurst was. 22. Sarah Whitehurst is shown and at the age of 16, Same age as Sarah Ellen Steward now Whitehurst. There are two girls that are unknown, Amanda age 19 and Artie 17 then there’s John brother of S R at age 11
1880 census Robertson Texas Samuel is there and the age is incorrect but Sarah has the correct age and the names of his children tell me it is him
S R also had a sister Mary and she had married William Steward in 1867, William is the father of Sarah Ellen and they are listed on the same page as Samuel and family and the brother in law of William is living with him. John is age 21.
Question is IS L WHITEHURST THE SAME PERSON AS S R. THEY ARE THE SAME AGE AND THEY ARE BOTH FROM ALABAMA
L WHITEHURST AGE 22 and S R WHITEHURST IS 22 Both from Alabama, both have a wife Sarah age 16 and brother John age 11
