i used this site for years and appreciate the wealth of information i found on it but i have not used it in years to add family tree information. Another reason I stopped using it I’m uncomfortable with the thought or other people updating my profiles that i created. I understand this is a community site where people can update anyones profile but is there a way i can get people to stop updating the profiles i created?

No not really. You can make some profiles private, but even those can be edited by users in the family group.

Thanks for the information. it just doesn’t sound ethical to me i would change someone’s information without asking the profile manager.

Daniel, all the changes are tracked. If there is a mistake it's easy to correct. If a profile has 150 managers on it going and getting 150 approvals is a huge barrier to correcting mistakes. Instead tracking changes lowers that barrier and enables easy collaboration.
